Statement from ICTU and IBEC on Aer Lingus IMPACT Cabin Crew Dispute
28 Jan 2011
Both IBEC and ICTU, having met with the parties, have considered their analysis of the main issues in dispute. It is clear that both parties recognise that an early resolution of the dispute is necessary to ensure the full delivery of the agreed 850 block hours as agreed under the Greenfield Business Recovery Plan.
In order to bring the dispute to an end, we recommend that:
The parties should immediately reengage with the Labour Relation Commission with the specific purpose of refining the contentious issues arising from the new rosters.
These issues shall then be clarified by the Arbitrator in the context of his previous arbitration finding dated 24 August, 2010, outlining the changes to working arrangements required in order to deliver on the commitment made in their collective agreement.
We expect that the clarification by the Arbitrator shall be regarded by the parties as final and binding in accordance with the terms of the agreed arbitration and to bring the dispute to an end.
IBEC and ICTU will engage with the Labour Relations Commission and the Arbitrator on our deliberations with a view to getting the process underway as soon as possible. The parties have assured us of their fullest cooperation and engagement with a view to a speedy resolution.
IBEC and ICTU will remain in close contact with the parties.
