Ceremony of Remembrance & Reflection with Union, Community, Religious & Spiritual leaders

On Wednesday April 28 Congress will mark Workers' Memorial Day with an event in the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin (10.30am), to remember those who have lost their lives or been injured and made sick at work. Workers Memorial is marked across the world every year on April 28.

This year, a special ceremony of Remembrance & Reflection will feature contributions from union, community, religious and spiritual leaders across all sectors of Irish society.

Among the participants are: Congress General Secretary, David Begg; Legal Affairs Officer, Esther Lynch and Eamon Devoy (TEEU) Chair of the Congress Health & Safety Committee. The programme will also include Martin O'Halloran, head of the Health & Safety Authority and Brian Magennis of the Irish Hospice Foundation.

Among the Religious, Spiritual and Community Leaders participating are: Noleen Blackwell, FLAC; Brian Whiteside, Humanists Association; Terry Gillespie, Religious Society of Friends; Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, Catholic Archbishop of Dublin; Siobhan O'Donoghue, Migrant Rights Centre of Ireland; a representative of the Jewish faith in Ireland; the Very Revd Dermot Dunne, Dean of Christchurch Cathedral; a representative from the Islamic faith in Ireland; Susan Mckay, National Womens Council; Jnanadhara, Buddhist faith; Chris Hudson of the Unitarians.
